Baron Samedi, or “Baron Saturday,” is one of the most recognized Loa. He appears as a suave and stylish figure in black coat tails and a top hat, handsome or skull-faced, or both. His domain is Death, Resurrection, Black Magic, and debauchery: He may be the lord of death, but he's the life of the party. He leads the family of Ghede, the anarchistic spirits of the dead. They are free and fearless, for the spirits of the dead are beyond all mortal dangers and social taboos.
The veve design is a name-sigil, used to call upon the “Loa,” the Voodoo equivalents of a Saint or an Angel; the spirit-ambassadors between god and mankind. The veve is traditionally drawn on the ground in cornmeal or gunpowder, adorned with the Loa's favorite offerings or sacrifices, as a centerpiece of a shrine or ceremony.
Pendant is 30mm in diameter, set in brass. Chain sold separately.
