The Norse have many talismans and sigils in their mystic arsenal, but none as stunning as the Ægishjálmr. Branch-like staves extend in all directions, protecting the central circle, and giving the impression of a giant, staring eye. It has been described as the eye or face of Odin himself. Warriors would charge into battle with this symbol as their only protection, painted in lead upon their foreheads. In the Poetic Edda, the dragon Fafnir wears this symbol, illustrating his aura of might and terror. Various forms of The Helm, and directions for its use, feature in Icelandic mystical texts, inherited through the ages. May it grant you courage and strike fear in the hearts of your enemies!
