How does one capture the magic of winter? In 1885, just miles away from our studio in Jericho Vermont, Wilson Bentley captured his first image of a snowflake. Through his lifetime, Bentley captured thousands of snowflake images, devoting his life to the study of this common and uncelebrated phenomenon, and revealing a beauty unimaginable. He cataloged his discoveries with the precision of a scientist, though he was not immune to their poetic spell, describing snowflakes as "tiny miracles of beauty" and snow crystals as "ice flowers."
This series is inspired by Bentley's immortal treasures. Each is delicately embellished by hand, each astoundingly detailed and subtly unique. They are set in solid brass with a dark rustic patina, measuring 20mm.
