Death was not always a grim and dreaded affair, but a subject of legend and enchantment, and even humor. In the artifacts of history we see the tombs of ancient kings, lavished in treasure and magic spells, or celebrated death-masks of fallen heroes, or reliquaries of saints...
Closer to home, we see the festival of Día de los Muertos , the Mexican day of dead: Skull faces bursting with colorful flower-petal mandalas, smiling rainbow colored sugar skulls, a feast of altar offerings, picnics and parades.
This is the inspiration for our filigree death-mask. It's skull-like face is formed of flowers, vines, and lively flourishes. It is cast in solid bronze with and antique finish and an antiqued brass chain and signature charm. The chain measures 16 inches with an additional 4 inches of extender for the perfect fit adjustable between 16 and 20 inches.
