The Hamsa, alternatively called the Hand of Fatima or Hand or Miriam, is protective talisman that features in many cultures. It symbolizes the hand of a divine female ancestor giving a sign of blessing or holding a staring eye. It evokes the protection of the maternal holy spirit, blessing us with love and good fortune while it wards off evil and danger.
For our talisman, I have chosen the hand of our most ancient female relative: Juramaia Sinensis. 'Juramaia Sinensis' lived 160 million years ago, and could very well be the great grandmother of all placental mammals, a common ancestor linking us to all of humanity as well as all of our finned and furry cousins: Humans, cats, dogs, horses, rats, even dolphins and whales, owe their evolution to this little shrew-like mammal, great-grandma Juramaia.
This 3X scale model of her paw is based on fossil reconstructions and skeleton holotypes. It is cast in bronze or sterling silver, and is set with a tiny rough diamond, a stone whose brilliance is gained by the pressure of many millions of years. A mother's love is forever! Measures 40mm in length and 16mm wide.
Chains are not included, but can be chosen from our “Chains & Accessories” section.
